Summary:This picture was taken early in the day at the Circus Field at Ballycastle just after the Big Top had been erected and before the crowds had begun to gather for the matinee performance. Circus families like Courtneys, Duffys and Fossetts are always welcomed wherever they set up the big top throughout Ireland. Despite the appearance on TV of some of the world's greatest circuses such as Billy Smarts Circus, The Russians State Circus and so on the coming of the circus to the small town is an event of considerable importance to the rural community.
