Summary:Laurence Sterne, (1713-1768), prebendary of York ; author of "Tristram Shandy" ; half-length, directed slightly to left, seated, looking more towards front, in wig and gown, right elbow on table to left, on which are papers ; with rectangular frame with ornaments, head of Minerva and seated figures at top, also globe and lyre, pedastal below, with name 'Lawrence Sterne' in open letters.
