Door of Duomo, Città di Castello 1012
|Main Creator:||Gregory, Lady, 1852-1932|
Drawing on right could be that of Montecchio Castle, near Cortona, Tuscany, Italy. Drawing on the left shows details from the door of the duomo of Cittá di Castello, Umbria, Italy. The inscription in pencil l.r. is similar to a verse by Thomas B. Macaulay from "Horatius" (Lays of Ancient Rome), 1842. Macaulay's verse is "From where Cortona lifts to heaven / Her diadem of towers".
