Summary:View of the star-shaped fortification known as Charles Fort, built around 1681-1685 overlooking Kinsale Harbour in County Cork, Ireland. The two massive corner-towers can be seen to be joined by a cross wall, behind which are the barracks built largely in the eighteenth century. At that time, Kinsale was already losing its powerful defensive position to Cork Harbour

This drawing is of the same subject as the drawing 2122 TX (2) 2, but taken from a different angle, and minus the ships. It is probable that Charles Vallencey (1725-1812) is the most likely candidate because he is the artist of 2122 TX (2) 2. It is also possible that Joseph Turner (ca. 1772-1835) is the artist of 2122 TX (2) 86 (A)
