Notes:The Wynne family of Hazelwood, County Sligo and Lurganboy, County Leitrim are descended from Owen Wynne (d. 1670) who established the family in Ireland after acquiring lands around Lurganboy in 1658. His son Lieutenant General Owen Wynne (1665-1737) purchased the Hazelwood estate, County Sligo in 1722. Hazelwood House was built in 1724 and was the first Palladian house in Ireland designed by Richard Cassells. When Owen Wynne died in 1837, the estate passed to his nephew Owen Wynne (1687-1756). He was succeeded by his son Owen and then his grandson Owen Wynne (1723-1789) who was an MP for Sligo in the Irish Parliament. His eldest son Owen Wynne (1755-1841) inherited the house. The estates, with the exception of Hazelwood House, were sold by Owen Wynne (1843-1910) to the Land Commission in the 1880s. The Wynne family left Hazelwood in 1923 and sold the house and lands in 1937 to the Land Commission and the State Forestry Commission.
