McWilliam Gallery, Banbridge; Highlanes Gallery, Drogheda; Uillinn; West Cork Arts Centre, Skibbereen; and Butler Gallery, Kilkenny. It features texts by Riann Coulter, Alice Correia, Valerie Connor, and the artist, and is designed by Peter Maybury. Modern Experiments presents a unique body of artworks that explore phenomena and concepts falling beyond the boundaries of conventional fields of science and psychology. Susan MacWilliam's installations and videos immerse the viewer in curious tales of vision and perception as they are lead through histories of psychial research and studies of sensory and extrasensory phenomena. MacWilliam uses diverse forms of reconstruction, portraiture and storytelling to explore personal and social histories. Her detailed research with historical archives and her friendships and interactions with her subjects allow for idiosyncrasies to come to the fore. Revealing and animating the obscure and the overlooked, she creates a space for the peripheral, affording attention to internal thoughts and personal experiences." --
