Notes: | Alison Barstow Murphy, was born in Brooklyn, New York. Her father was a naturalist on the staff of the American Museum of Natural History and her mother was a member of the Society of Woman Geographers. Alison accompanied her father on many of his expeditions and wrote accounts of their experiences and in 1930, Putnam's published her book 'Every Which Way in Ireland', illustrated with photographs taken by Alison and her family.
