Summary:Correspondence from Peter Fallon of the Gallery Press in relation to the publication of ‘Mount Eagle’ (1989). The letters mainly concern: corrections and editorial notes on attached galley proofs; discussion about the feedback from Peter Cunning and Seán Lucy; lists of proposed reviewers; publicity and launch details; and sample covers. There are also letters from colleges and publications to Montague requesting readings and permission to feature some of the ‘Mount Eagle’ poems respectively, (1989-1990). The file further contains handwritten and typescript drafts documenting the earlier versions of poems which appear in John Montague’s poetry collection, ‘Mount Eagle’ (1988). Poems include: “Pacific Legend”; “Upside Down”; “Moving In”; “Hearth Song”; “Postmistress”; “Deer Park” and “Foreign Field” among many others. These drafts are accompanied by reference materials used by Montague for the writing of ‘Mount Eagle’, such as newspaper clippings, images and postcards, (1963-1986). Lastly, there are newspaper reviews of ‘Mount Eagle’ which have been collected and annotated by Montague.
