Summary: | Christmas card featuring the image of a harp, surrounded by a profusion of shamrock, around which a wide ribbon featuring the colours of the Irish flag - orange, white and green has been draped – hanging from the ribbon is a medal featuring the Irish Volunteers badge (designed in 1913 by Eoin MacNeill) consisting of a sunburst [An Gal Gréine], surmounted by an 8-pointed star, bearing the letters "FF" in Cló Gaelach encircled by a representation of an ancient warrior's sword belt. Printed on card in Cló Gaelach is "Nodlaig aoibinn duit" [which roughly translates from Irish as "Have a delightful Christmas" in English]. Text printed in green coloured ink in Cló Gaelach with a verse in English inside card by "S. O'C" [Seán T. Ó Ceallaigh?]; garlands of shamrocks are also depicted inside card. Printed on verso of card is a gold harp with the words "Éire go brat" on a ribbon around the harp. Underneath this is printed: "Published by Fergus O'Connor, Dublin". |
