Summary:Printed on postcard in Cló Gaelach is "Bhliadhain nuadh shona chugat" [translated from Irish this means "Happy New Year to you"]. Decorative interlace work is featured at top of postcard with a dove (depicted at top left) holding a sprig of a branch in his beak along with a small piece of paper with the colours of the Irish flag. At centre of image is a Irish Volunteer, depicted standing on a green mound, wearing a kilt of dark green material and a sporran, a green jacket [somewhat similar to those worn by the Irish Volunteers] with gold buttons and epaulettes and a sash of yellow coloured fabric across his waist. He holds a cutlass [sword] in his right hand. Behind him is the rising sun [An Gal Gréine or sunburst - which featured on banners and flags of those associated with the Fenian movement, the IRB and the Volunteers]. At right of the scene stands a figure with white hair and a white beard, dressed in a brown garment, holding a broken sword in his right hand. He holds his left hand to his forehead, as though shielding his eyes. Verso of card blank. Printed in black ink on verso is: "Fergus O'Connor Dublin. - Publisher to the Trade".
