Summary: | Postcard (blank on verso), title and text printed in Irish on postcard in red coloured ink. Title roughly translates from Irish as "Dublin. The Catholic Church of Mary in Rathmines". Featuring a black and white photographic image of Mary Immaculate Refuge of Sinners Church, Lower Rathmines Road, that was designed by Patrick Byrne in the Greek Style and built in 1854. It was later extended by W.H. Byrne who added the portico and pediment; the latter is inscribed ‘Mariae Immaculatae Refugio Pecatorum’. The church was destroyed by fire in January 1920 but it was rebuilt by 1922. |
