Summary:See portfolio held at NLI call number LBR 767, a portfolio of twelve large drypoint with etching prints by Glasgow based artist Frederick Arthur Farrell, presented to President Douglas Hyde in January 1944 by President Władysław Raczkiewicz, (1885-1947) of Poland, (who was then living in exile in London) for the original image of 'Poznan. The Ancient Town Hall' reproduced on the cover of this menu. On verso [back page] of this menu is reproduced an image of the inscription present on the portfoilo, written in ink in manuscript hand from Raczkiewicz to Douglas Hyde: "To His Excellency / Dr. Douglas Hyde / President of Ireland / as a token of warm and friendly feelings. / Władysław Raczkiewicz. / London, / January, 1944". This portfolio of etchings at NLI call number LBR 767 is numbered No. 28 of 50; amongst the etchings are several images of cities - Gdynia, Kraków, Gdańsk [then known as Danzig], Warsaw, Poznań, Lwów and Vilnius, Lithuania [previously known as Wilno].
