Summary:Colour postcard [blank on verso] advertising Barbour's Linen Thread featuring the image of a man, needle and thread in hand, depicted sewing a patch to the bottom of a small boy's trousers - while he is wearing them. The little boy is seen from behind, up on a table. he looks out of the window in front of him. 'Barbour's Flax Mill located at Hilden outside Lisburn, Co. Antrim, (established in 1784) was one of the largest producers of linen thread in the world. Over a number of years, their distribution company, The Barbour Brothers, New York organised a series of competitions for prizes in lacemaking etc.; see item held at NLI call number 14A 555. The factory closed in 2006.
