Notes:Beryl O'Brien was a member of the O'Brien family, Co. Clare. See Inchiquin papers in the NLI catalogue. She appears in the collection list but not in relation to her diary. Helen Meaney (Beryl's great granddaughter) and Michael McRedmond, Beryl's grandson, transcribed and published this diary.

Beryl O'Brien was born on the 19th April, 1898. She was born into the ancient Irish noble family of O'Briens from County Clare in Ireland, direct descendants of Brian Boru, High King of Ireland from 1002-1014. This is her diary of a tour of Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and the Far East that she undertook in 1926-1928. The transcribing of the diary has been faithful to the exact original.
