|Summary:||Card featuring a colour illustration (signed by W. G. Spenser within the original image, which is reproduced here) on recto of a man standing at left wearing an the Irish Volunteers' uniform (as worn in 1916) and a soldier in the Irish Army in 1966; they are both standing in front of the memorial in the Garden of Remembrance, Parnell Square, Dublin, dedicated to all who gave their lives in the cause of Irish freedom. Printed insdie the card in green coloured ink at left is an image of the General Post Office (depicted within a circle) and head and shoulders illustrations of Padraig Pearse, James Connolly and Tom Clarke. Printed opposite this is a poem, entitled "Golden Jubilee of the Easter Rising 1916" by Ted O'Riordan. Written in blue ball point pen in mnauscript hand on back of card is: "Will be in Dublin / Saturday & Sunday, will phone. / Isabel". |
