Summary:Architectural drawing of the Abbey Theatre by architect Joseph Holloway [which entailed the conversion of the Mechanics' Institute into a theatre for Irish Theatre Society and National Dramatic company, funded by Miss Anne Horniman (1860-1937)]. Written in pencil at top of sheet "The Abbey Theatre. Dublin. Scale 1/8 to one foot. Note actual dimensions to be taken on the spot". At right hand side of sheet is a section plan. At bottom of sheet, elevation with "Plan thro' [through] Proscenium open", with a fireproof curtain present and a second elevation drawn underneath this "Plan above Proscenium open". Signed in black ink in Joseph Holloway's handwriting on left hand side of sheet "Joseph Holloway M.R.I.A.I. / Architect / 21 Northcumberland Road / Dublin".
