Summary: | Broadside [reprint from the "Leinster Leader" of 6 September, 1947] encouraging people to vote for Clann na Poblachta in the 4 February 1948 Irish general election. Details the party's policies on agriculture under various headings - Agricultural Production; Afforestation and Food Subsidies. With a reference by MacBride to words said by Rev. Dr. Dignan, Bishop of Clonfert in 1947 "Emigration on a large scale is a slow bleeding to death of our Nation and yet we seem resigned to it and as fatalists, await our doom. For God and country our young people must be kept at home. They must have such a livelihood that thye will be enabled to marry early and bring up in their Catholic home children in conditions that will meet the high standard in this, the twentieth century of civilisation...Our country is largely undeveloped and consequently there can be work for all". |
