Notes:Heaney's adaption of Sophocles' play 'Antigone', titled 'The Burial at Thebes', was commissioned by the Abbey Theatre as part of its centenary celebrations and first performed there on 31 March 2004. It was first published by Faber and Faber in 2004.

Fax, dated 18 Dec. 2004, is printed out on the verso of a typescript draft of the poem 'Testimony'; fax, dated 18 December 2004, is printed out on the verso of a fragment typescript draft of the poem 'St. Kevin and the Blackbird'.

MS 49,493/253 pp 2, 4-5 and 9-10 have been copied and the copies inserted into the file, as the original manuscritps contained private contact details.
