Summary:Contains notebooks and manuscript and typescript worksheets with drafts of Heaney's prose writings, including his critical essays, reviews and articles for various newspapers and journals. Also included are drafts of lectures on poetry and drama which he wrote and delivered as Professor of Poetry at Oxford (1989-1994), drafts of his obituary of poet Joseph Brodsky (written for the 'New York Times') and some early prose pieces which touch on his impressions on living in California and thought on politics in Northern Ireland in the early 1970's. The notebooks also contain some draft poems.
