Summary:To the left of the photo is a traditional clachan - a group of single storey houses once occupied by three or four generations of the same family. The two chimneys of a more modern two-storey house appear above the roof of the large red hayshed. In the middle of the picture stands the modern farm with its poultry houses and silo for supplying automatically the required amounts of feed for the battery hens. In the middle stands the solitary pole carrying the supply of electricity without which the modern farm would grin to halt. A stark contrast between the old and the new.
