Summary:Title printed under image. John Leland, D.D., (1691-1766), dissenting [Presbyterian] minister at Dublin; head and shoulders, to right, looking to front, in wig, gown and bands within an oval. Underneath (present within small rectangular frame) is a whole-length of John Leland standing in a church - on the table (written across the pages of an open volume are "Bolingbrokes Letters" while Leland rests his right hand on a volume entitled "View of the Deist Writ"; he points with his left hand to a copy of a volume entitled "Holy Bible" depicted in the background, in front of a library of other volumes. Leland was the author of the two volumes study (1754–1755), "A view of the principal deistical writers that have appeared in England in the last and present century: with observations upon them, and some account of the answers that have been published against them: in several letters to a friend".
