Half-length, looking to left, standing under a gallows; above it are the words "Fiat Justicia" [Latin, "Let justice be done"] and paper attached entitled "Infernal Journal" [a reference to the 'Freeman’s Journal', Higgins was the proprietor]. Title lettered underneath image - "Belphegor" was a demon and one of the seven princes of Hell who "helped" people make discoveries.
