Notes:C.W. Cole was sent to Limerick to cover the Land League Demonstration there which was to coincide with Charles Stewart Parnell being offered the Freedom of the city. Parnell arrived in Limerick on 1st November 1880 and attended the demonstration and the following day received the Freedom of the city.

Part of a series of engravings published under the title "The agitation in Ireland - incidents of the Parnell Reception at Limerick" in the Graphic newspaper, Saturday, November 13th, 1880. This image was published, in slightly altered form, as a wood engraving on page 465 (accompanied by an article "Ireland: Mr Parnell at Limerick" on page 467).
