Notes:Open letter from George Noble Plunkett to a number of administrative bodies and national organisations asking to support the establishment of a Council of Ireland which would allow Ireland to state a case for recognition among Nations. Handwritten in manuscript hand in pencil on back page: "I.T.W.U., Liberty Hall, Dublin." Back page has a detachable form "to be filled in on the appointment of Delegates" who will attend the Assembly, which was to take place at the Mansion House, Dublin at 11.30 a.m on the 19 April 1917. "I have therefore decided to convene an Assembly of the representatives of the Administrative Bodies and National Organisations, and other public men of Ireland. The first of its duties will be to address itself to the Peace Conference with a view to obtaining tht [sic, the] support of Nations which will be represented at that Conference. With its representative authority this Assembly will claim the recognition of the Sovereign Status of Ireland; that Status to be guaranteed by the Continental Powers of Europe and the United States of America."
