| Notes: | From: Antiquities of Abbeys, Castles & c. & c. in Ireland, Vol. I Title inscribed in ink l.c. on sheet under image Inscription in pencil u.l. on sheet, probably made by Albert Damer Cooper, says that the effigy is "supposed to be Sir Rowland Eustace or Gerald Earl of Kildare" Watermark u.l. on sheet is part of a large shield, crowned Cooper would appear to have drawn this castle while on a tour of parts of south Leinster n the summer of 1782. He made comments about the antiquities illustrated in this image in his diary for August 15th, 1782 (NLI Ms. Acc. 4841, Kildare, Carlow, Queen's County 1782, pages 17-19) Physical description: 1 drawing image 11.7 x 9.8 cm., on sheet 18.3 x 26.5 cm.
