Notes: | From: Antiquities of Abbeys, Castles & c. & c. in Ireland, Vol. I Inscription in ink beneath the title: See Harris's Bps. p:389 2122 TX (1) 4(B) to right of 2122 TX (1) 4(A) on same sheet Watermark, u.l. on sheet, is part of a shield Drawn by Austin Cooper perhaps when he was touring the country gathering money from area tax collectors, or a Paymaster to the Civil and Military Establishments In his diary for May 14th, 1781, preserved in NLI Ms. Acc. 4841, page 1 and published in Liam Price's book about Austin Cooper, page 11, Cooper remarked that, buried among the ruins of the abbey 'is the Tomb of a Bp. (I suppose Wellesley) in relievo, in his Robes, with a Canopy over his head. It is broke across at the Neck & the lower part is scarcely to be seen' Physical description: 1 drawing (left-hand side of sheet) diam. image 6.6 cm., on sheet 18.2 x 26.5 cm.
