| Notes: | Illustration used for NLI Christmas card 1996 Title inscribed in pen on accompanying sheet by the artist with the following inscription: This was the first illustration I did for this book. As part of my research for this book I looked at the work of many Scandinavian artists. This picture is very influenced, in the background at least by a painting by Harald Sohlberg. I remembered liking the way I'd rendered the girl but I felt dissatisfied with the white bear and the flat side - on angle.
