Draft letter from W. S. O'Brien to D. H. Hayes, secretary of the committee appointed to arrange the celebration of the festival of St. Patrick in Dublin, declining invitation to attend the banquet and outlining his views on current Irish politics. A note says this letter was written by O'Brien 'after his return from exile' (i.e. c. 1856).
