In Collection: Letters from the IRA Waterford Brigade to Edmund Downey, editor of The Waterford News, attempting to censor reports in that paper, 1922.
Description:'Father Hannon says you will look into the matter of our censorship if I send you an example of what is being done. Enclosed is today's sample. After reviewing it our Manager waited on Commandant Paul who admitted it was rather strong, but we had to carry out the instructions ... just as we were going to press a Lieut. Kelly, with revolver at his hand, came into my room & said: 'your paper has got to be produced as I say not as you wish it'.
