Notes:Fionán Mac Coluim was born on 28 August 1875, to Daniel McCallum and Mairéad Nic Cárthaigh. When his mother died, Fionán was sent to live with his uncle, Fionán Ó Loinsigh, in Co. Kerry. After secondary education at the North Abbey in Cork, Fionán got a clerical job in the Dowdall family's creamery. He then went to London in 1896 where he worked in the British Treasury Register Office and then in the India Office. While in London, he became involved in various societies and associations including the Gael Athletic Association and the Irish Literary Society. He was appointed secretary of the Conradh na Gaelige in London and attended the first Oireachtas. When he returned to Kerry in 1902, he was appointed Ard-Timire for the League. He was also its representative in America from 1912 to 1916. He worked as a song-collector for the Conradh before becoming Irish Inspector for the Vocational Education Committees. He was also a member of the Folklore of Ireland Society and the Irish Folklore Commssion. He was appointed musical advisor to the Minister for Education between 1945 and 1966. He married Máirín Nic Craith in 1936 and they had one son. Fionán Mac Coluim died on 16 December 1966.
