Notes: | Maura Scannell worked as an Assistant Keeper in the Botany Section of the National Museum of Ireland alongside her colleague and friend Beatrice Salkeld. Beatrice Salkeld was a Technical Assistant and her job was to mount and label plants in the Herbarium. She also set up special exhibitions and carried out field work in Dublin, Connemara and Donegal. When she married Brendan Behan, she left the National Museum's service. Maura Scannall was invited to their wedding at the Sacred Heart Church, Donnybrook, Dublin. As she was the only guest with a camera, she took their wedding photographs. After Beatrice Salkeld left the Museum service, she kept in touch with Maura Scannell.
