The majority of the correspondence is from Duckworth Books to John Montague discussing ‘Company’ (2000-2001). The letters are from the editors, Thomas J. Hedley and Sarah Such concerning: the former's resignation; the literary contract; proofs; and promotional material for the launch of the memoir. The file further contains correspondence which acted as reference material for Montague in the writing of ‘Company’. These letters concern: Brenda Maddox, author of ‘George’s Ghosts: A New Life of W. B. Yeats’, discussing the Yeats family, (1996- 1999); and Arnold Rosin, who knew Montague when he lived in Paris and provided corrections to stories that had appeared in ‘The Figure in the Cave’, (2001).

The file further includes handwritten and typescript drafts of ‘Company’. The drafts are annotated by Montague and the editors at Duckworth and concern: table of contents; chapter 1 “Dublin Underground”; chapter 2 “Scylla and Charybdis”; chapter 3 “A Human Behan”; chapter 4 “Liam Dolmen”; chapter 5 “Sheba and Solomon”; chapter 6 “A Chosen Life”; chapter 7 “Samuel Beckett, Neighbour”; chapter 8 “Dance On, Dance On”; chapter 9 “Passage to California”.
