Postcards of Strabane,

Postcards collected/published by the O'Nolan/Gormley family with views of Strabane dating from the early to mid 20th century. Postcards contain both black and white and colourised photographs and drawings of various areas of Strabane including the Bowling Green, Main Street, Abercorn Square, Castle Street and Place, Strabane Technical School, Strabane Town Hall, an aerial view of the town, Gortin, and the River Mourne at Strabane. Also includes a postcard with an aerial view of Cahors and one of the area in Glasgow in which the O'Nolan family lived. Some postcards are marked as published by 'J. (Joseph) Gormley, Strabane' - the maternal uncle of Brian O'Nolan.

Notes:Postcard MS 50,927/3/29 contains a message on verso: "This is your / photograph on / a postcard. I think / it makes a nice / picture. / Eugene" sent to "Ciaran O'Nolan / c/o "India" / 29 Lower O'Connell / St. / Dublin.", postmarked 21st August 1964. Ciaran O'Nolan was the brother of Brian O'Nolan and Eugene (Gormley) his uncle.

MS 50,927/3/10 and MS 50,927/3/21, postcards of the Bowling Green and Abercorn Square, Strabane, contain the note on verso: " For FNT (Foilseacháin Náis) / 25 ems / (to be printed / on a?? / paper) " (Foilseacháin Náis refers to the Irish publisher Foilseacháin Náisiúnta Teoranta). One of these colourised images is published by J. (Joseph) Gormley, Strabane.

MS 50,927/3/17, a postcard with an image of Athol Gardens, Sheepburn, Uddingston (Glasgow), contains the note on verso: " Where family / lived in / Glasgow "

MS 50,927/3/19, a colourised postcard of the Bowling Green, Strabane, contains the note on verso: "Inniu - Monday (underlined) / 25 ems " and is marked as published by J. Gormley, Strabane.
