Seán O'Faoláin,

Description: | The file contains copies of O’Faolain’s published work; material concerning events held and articles written in his honour; and newspaper clippings regarding his work. O'Faoláin’s published work is represented by copies of the literary journal ‘The Bell’, 1943-1951. These are accompanied by handwritten drafts of potential articles by Montague for publication within the journal. Material relating to events where O'Faoláin was honoured consist of: a poster for a seminar in UCC called, "Three Cork Writers: Corkery, O’Connor and O'Faoláin", November 1985; and an invitation to the conferring of ’The Freedom of the City of Cork’ on Dr. O'Faoláin, 9 July 1988. There is also correspondence with Montague from the’ Cork Review’ for an article in the issue dedicated to the life and work of O'Faoláin, 1991 and from the ‘Cork Writer’s Project’ regarding an exhibition called "Sceálta" in Cork City, 13 April 1994. Lastly, Montague collected newspaper and magazine clippings relating to the work of O'Faoláin, in particular articles written by Denis O’Donoghue reviewing O'Faoláin’s ‘The Vanishing Hero’, 1955-1957. |
