Letter from Robert Atkinson to Mary Hutton,

Atkinson asks Mrs. Hutton if she could help a female student, a friend of Dr. Ingram's, in her study of the Irish language, as he himself is too busy to take on any more work. He says she can ask him any definite question she wishes and he will do what he can to help her.

Robert Atkinson held the chair of Sanskrit and comparative philology in TCD. He was Todd professor of Celtic languages in the RIA, where he was also a member of the Academy council, secretary, librarian and eventually President.
