Dónal Traynor on Christopher, and this photo: “I had forgotten this photo of Joseph and myself, and there’s Bill Foley photo-bombing, long before the term existed. I first met Christopher and Bill at a party in the very early 1980s. I was just coming out and was fascinated, in awe and thrilled to meet a couple, two men, at a predominantly straight party, just being themselves. I had never met a gay couple before. Our paths crossed and re-crossed over the years. In all that time, Christopher never ceased to fascinate me. His integrity, curiosity, his openness to difference, and his sense of fun, along with his immense intelligence, made his company a joy at meetings, events, at parties, and especially across his dinner table. I loved sitting around that table, as Christopher recounted yarns and tales of exploits, with Bill interjecting to guide, cajole and tease Christopher. That awe I felt the first time I met Christopher and Bill has never left me”.
