Letter from James Joyce, in Nice, to his aunt, Josephine Murray,

1922 Oct. 23.

Joyce mentions Nora's trip home to Ireland with the children, which he tried to dissuade her from, and their return to Paris earlier than planned as they were frightened by the civil unrest in Ireland. Joyce describes how the train they were travelling in from Galway was shot at. He also mentions his eye trouble, and talks about the book he sent her (presumably Ulysses) and which she seems to have lent to someone, without reading it herself. He says that it will be worth £100 in a few years and warns her that Dubliners never return books. He talks about various other matters also.
