Author of report is a handwriting expert employed by Parnell's defence team (Sir Charles Russell and H. H. Asquith) in preparation for the Special Commission. No experts in the field of handwriting were called to the Special Commission. The Times, whose case collasped on the discrediting of its primary witness Richard Piggott, employed the services of the handwriting expert George Smith Inglis.
