Copy of a letter from Joseph Brennan to Sir John Lavery, asking him to paint a portrait for use on the new note issues for the Irish Free State,

1927 December 30.

Brennan explains that the Currency Commission is looking for a "portrait of a beautiful female head treated in some emblematic fashion which might perhaps have some Irish association" for their new notes. Brennan ends his letter by saying that he will be in London in a few days time when he could hopefully discuss the matter further with Lavery.
