Casement writes that the Irish Americans are all on the side of Germany and writes "Poor Germany! My heart bleeds for those poor people beset by a world of hatred, envy and jealousy. Their crime is their efficiency". He regrets that the war has decreased his fundraising opportunities for the Irish Volunteers.
