Letter from Roger Casement to Alice Stopford Green describing his plans to meet the steamer 'Rhaetia' in Cobh,
1914 Jan. 11.
Casement describes his plans for the welcome party for the steamer 'Rhastia' at Cobh, which will involve a large party going out on a tug boat with a band and Irish and German flags. He also describes the procession to a college for the presentation of the portrait of O'Sullivan Beare by Francis Joseph Bigger. This will involve the portrait being hauled "on a trolley, lit by torches and guarded by two pike men in kilts thro the streets of Cork - surrounded by a howling mob!".
