Letter from Roger Casement to Alice Stopford Green regarding attempts to find a position for Edmund Dene Morel, money raising activities and the slave trade,
1911 April.
Casement writes that Morel would not be suitable for consular work and needs to be kept where he can be "a fearless investigator not on official but on human lives". Casement continues to canvass wealthy Liverpool merchants for subscriptions for Morel. He also writes that he fears that the slave trade in the Congo and Mexico are growing and that more people are now enslaved than at the height of the overseas slave trade.
