The contents of Clarke's notebook relate to her uncle John Daly’s friendship with fellow Fenian Tom Clarke dating from their time in prison, her first meeting with Tom Clarke, their engagement, his move to the United States to find work, their life together in New York, her recollections of John Devoy and the Clarke's eventual move to Dublin where he resumed his political activism. Also included in the notebook is an account marked ‘After The Rising’ in which she refers to events following the execution of her husband in 1916, raids on the Daly family's home in Limerick, and her own political activities following the Easter Rising.
