Open letter from the National Executive of the Irish Trades Union Congress and Labour Party, encouraging trade unions and employers to resist conscription or "voluntary enlistment" and adhere to the National Pledge,

1918 June 24.

The Executive writes, "We advise affiliated Societies, and especially Trade Councils, to take steps to inform Employers that Labour will interpret any action calculated to force men into the Army as "facilitating the enforcement of the Conscription Act," and therefore a violation of the National Pledge". Signed by William O'Brien, Thomas Cassidy, M.J. Egan, Thomas Johnson, Thomas McPartlin, William J. McNulty, Patrick Lynch, Thomas Foran, Henry Rochford and P.T. Daly.
