Letter from Edward Martyn to Éamonn Ceannt concerning theft of money from Cumann na bPíobairí,

1906 August 4.

Letter from Martyn of Tulira Castle, Ardrahan, Co. Galway to Mr. Kent in which he discusses the theft of money by Liam Mac Brian, former treasuer of Cumann na bPíobairí. He states that it is "a very serious thing to have this money practically embezzled" and feels that the restoration of Donnelly, until the money is "restored by the absconding treasurer", is the right decision. He discusses the possibility of resuming singing classes when the money is returned, noting that the pupils did not contribute money to an Cumann, but feeling that the increasing value of traditional music might encourage pupils to contribute financial support.
