Autograph letter, signed, from Sean O'Casey to Mai McCarthy,
1955 July 22.
O'Casey discusses the work he is doing and commissions he has had to turn down, including an article for an American magazine for a fee of $1,000. He says the Abbey Theatre tour of the 'Plough and the Stars' was a great success in Paris, although he did not hear anything about it from the Abbey Theatre itself, but from a friend working in Paris. He mentions some of the strangers who call by to see him, including a family of Irish people, and some American tourists.
