Notes:With typescript note by Alf MacLochlainn, written in 1976: "A student in the Jesuit seminary in Kilkenny in 1648 wrote out his philosophy notes in a book made in the Society's printing house and bindery, perhaps the earliest dated Irish binding. the backing of the leather sides is made of folded fragments of proof-pulls of otherwise unknown broadsides from the Society's press".
