Half length portrait of William Hayden. Born in 1835, he was the younger brother of Eliza Hayden (see NPA MCCD6). He left home for the Jesuit seminary in February 1862. He was later one of the group who founded the Gaelic League with Douglas Hyde and the author of an Irish grammar.
