In Collection: Colonel Maurice Moore Papers, 1841-1939
Description:See MS 10,545 /10 for more internal memoranda and correspondence relating to the organisation of the 1917 Irish National Volunteers' convention.
Relates largely to a division within the National Volunteers, when Col. Maurice Moore called a convention contrary to the decision of the National Committee. Moore took posession of Volunteer Headquarters at 44, Parnell Square. Moore believed that to not call a convention would be unconstitutional. Also includes documents relating to the necessity of Ireland having its own defensive force should there by a form of home rule.
