[graphic] /

View of a tower giving access to a ruined house seen in the background. This is what remains of Ballymount Castle, County Dublin, Ireland, which was built in the seventeenth century by Sir William Parsons. Parsons changed the name of the house to Bellamount, but it has since then reverted to its original title. It is said that the house was burnt by the Irish Army in 1646. In the foreground is a man kneeling on the grass, sketching the view, with a gun beside him. On the road leading up to the tower is a man walking beside a pack horse.
